This is the catalogue of the exhibition currently running at the F.E. McWilliam Gallery and Studio, Banbridge, County Down. The works included have been acquired over five decades by the Earl and Countess of Belmore and are testament to the Belmores’ passion for art and their friendships with artists. Foremost among their artist friends was the Enniskillen-born painter T.P. (Terry) Flanagan, whose Castle Coole series beautifully captures the atmosphere of James Wyatt’s great neoclassical house. Flanagan was instrumental in introducing the Belmores to many key Irish artists including Basil Blackshaw, Colin Middleton and Fermanagh’s most famous artistic son, William Scott. Other artists whose work is represented in the book include David Bomberg, John Bratby, George Campbell, Barrie Cooke, Victoria Crowe, Paul Henry, Ivon Hitchens, Rose Hilton, Glyn Philpot, Mary Potter, Ceri Richards and Mary Swanzy.
